I tried to install the Lexmark x1270 printer driver for Microsoft Windows Vista, and after running the executable file, the installation program said that it had found an older driver installed and that it has to be uninstalled before the installation of the new driver can be performed. After rebooting and running the file that the installer instructed me to run, I got the same message again, that the older driver must be uninstalled before the installation of the new driver can be performed, resulting in an endless loop.
So, after attempting a couple of times to install the Lexmark x1270 printer driver under Windows Vista, I successfully installed the driver by running the file below.
C:\drivers\printer\1200\install\x86\Instgui.exe
The people at Lexmark should do a better job when they write their drivers.
